ACUSON Sequoia™ Ultrasound System Virtual Touch 2D SWE-Small Parts | VA30 Software Release

This quick reference guide helps you understand the 2D SWE for small parts using the ACUSON Sequoia ultrasound system with the VA30 software.

Quick Reference Card Virtual Touch 2D SWE ACUSON Sequoia Ultrasound System VA30 SW release BRE siemens-healthineers.com/ultrasound Using 2D shear wave elastography (SWE) to measure shear velocity (Vs) in meters per second (m/s) and elasticity (E) in kilopascal (kPa) for applications in Small Parts Step 1 OL4 Step 3 Breast SWE • Select compatible transducer and • SWE tab is default application on exam preset1 touch screen Step 2 Step 4 Update • Press VT (Virtual Touch) located on VT • If required, roll the trackball control panel to reposition the region of interest (ROI) • If required, press the right or left Set key and roll the trackball to resize ROI (if necessary) • Use minimal scanning pressure to prevent pre-compression effect • Press Update on the control panel to begin acquisition 1 2D SWE imaging is compatible with 5C1, DAX: General, Abdomen; 10L4: General, Thyroid, Breast, MSK; 18L6: General, Thyroid, Breast. SIEMENS Healthineers Step 5 • When the acquisition is complete, the system automatically freezes, emits one audible “beep” and activates the Velocity or Elasticity display mode • Adjust Min and/or Max Velocity or Elasticity Increase range if measured value exceeds Min Velocity Max Velocity Min Elasticity Max Elasticity - 0.5 4 50 range by displaying “High” Decrease range if better visualization of - velocity of stiffness differences is needed • To check the quality of your image prior to measurement, ensure that the Quality and Quality Velocity Displacement map options are selected and m/s displayed on the touch screen above the Dual display. If the maps are not displayed, Live Dual select either of the keys to open the pop-up menu of map choices • Measurements should be taken in regions with high quality (green to yellow-green) Velocity Elasticity Quality Displacement Displacement 2D Only m/s kPa in the Quality display Quality Velocity • Correlate the areas in the Velocity or Elasticity image with shear wave signal-to- noise ratio and Displacement amplitude Note: During freeze, a cooling timer indicates remaining seconds until transducer is available for image acquisition. During a short cooling time (e.g., 1–2 seconds), the timer appears and then disappears very quickly. Step 6 • If required, the units (m/s and kPa) may be altered by selecting the desired unit from Velocity Elasticity the touch screen display options m/s kPa • To display the SWE image in full screen format (if desired), select the Live Dual key Live Dual to exit the split screen format • If required, rotate the VT rotary dial on the control panel to change the transparency of the 2D SWE image VT 2 siemens-healthineers.com/ultrasound Measurements Shear Velocity and Elasticity -- + Measurements can be performed or viewed in the Shear Velocity Velocity, Elasticity, Quality or Displacement display modes. 18L6 Breast • Press Caliper on the control panel – Shear Velocity TIB:0.39 TIC:0.63 is the default measurement tool TIS:0.39 MI:1.17 65fps 95% • Roll trackball to position measurement ROI. In Live Dual, the measurement ROI can be placed on either image. • If needed, rotate the ROI Diameter to resize • Shear wave measurements and measurement ROI 1 Vs Median=2.36 m/s depth and diameter are displayed near image (Fig. 1) E Median=16.7 kPa Depth=0.86 cm Diam=0.30 cm 2 Vs Median=1.12 m/s • To display a measurement in the report, select the E Median=3.8 kPa Depth=0.87 cm desired measurement label Diam=0.30 cm Fig. 1: Velocity display mode in Live Dual format and shear wave • If desired, press Set key and roll trackball to perform additional measurements or select Delete on the measurements of a breast lesion. control panel to delete the measurement • Select Report on the left side of touch screen to view, store, print or transfer shear wave measurements Note: If the measurement ROI value exceeds the current maximum velocity or elasticity setting, the measured results display HIGH for the shear wave value. If the measurement ROI value is lower than the current minimum velocity and elasticity setting, the measured results display LOW. The measured results display X.XX (for velocity) or XX.X (for elasticity) if the shear wave was not detected within the ROI or if a measurement is performed outside the ROI. Shadow Calipers Shadow Shadow calipers are used to duplicate and display a measurement on the adjacent image to compare the 1 D=0.30 cm size and/or location of a lesion.
